How much protection from the elements does the structure offer?

The structure will be tweaked by the architect and engineer during the design phase to maximize protection of the court from the elements. Since we can add up to three walls under current zoning regulations, we can move towards complete protection from wind and rain. Protection from the elements has to be balanced with ventilation needs, especially for the warmer summer months, to find the sweet spot. If we move forward, we will work with the engineer assigned to the project to determine prevailing wind/rain patterns and add walls accordingly. One option, pictured below, is to enclose the two larger sides, and fit the two smaller ends for sliding or garage doors, which could be added on one end now, and on the fourth side in the event zoning regulations eventually allow a fully enclosed recreational structure. Some side panels would be translucent to allow for natural lighting. Note that this structure would not be physically attached to the existing courts; it would be a stand-alone structure. This level of enclosure would add approximately $50,000 to our bottom line.
